From the No Good Deed Goes Unpunished File

A few weeks ago, one of my neighbors left her dog outside while she went to work. The temperature was around 95 degrees with a heat index of over 100. This is a very small dog, what I like to call ankle biters. I noticed the dog several times, but since this neighbor won't talk to me, I didn't want to get involved. That turned out to be a very good choice on my part. Another neighbor decided to give the dog some water. She felt bad for the dog. She hadn't even returned to her house and her phone was ringing. It was the woman who owned the dog. She wanted to know why she was giving her dog a drink. Evidently a third neighbor called her at work to let her know what happened. If this neighbor was so concerned, why didn't she just give the dog a drink? I guess you never know who is watching you and who they will tell about it.

Can't anybody walk to their mailbox???

I mean c'mon their driveways are like 20 feet long and they can't walk to the end to get their mail??? Are we that lazy now??? No wonder there is such an obesity problem in this country. If more people walked to get their mail or parked further when they go out maybe they could drop a few pounds. Get out of your gas guzzling SUVs and walk to the end of your driveway and get your stinking mail.

Should it be a crime to be an idiot???

This woman that is obviously learning how to ride a motorcycle is at it again. Yesterday for an hour and a half she rode up and down my street. It is a short street with a cul-de-sac. Here it is 8 PM, dark and it just stopped raining and she is at it again. Even my kids want to know why she keeps riding up and down the street. Do you think it even occurs to her that people live in the houses that she passed by countless times? Do you think she would want someone doing that in front of her house? I guess that's where the phrase "not in my back yard" comes from.

What makes a biker???

Several people in my neighborhood have bought Harley Davidson's over the past year. Just because you buy the bike and the gear, does that make you a biker? Isn't it more an attitude than the ability to buy a bike? Would a biker drive home in his $50,000 SUV, change out of his shirt and tie to ride his bike?

I'm sure they probably consider themselves to be "a biker". Can you really buy the attitude or are you just faking it? What does that say for you?

A Very Funny Encounter

I'm interupting the description of neighbors to give you this funny story. One of Patti's sons, he's like 9 or 10 years old, had a friend over. They were riding their bicycles. The 5 year old boy that lives next door to me was outside but he could not leave his yard because his grandparents were babysitting. They were teasing him because he couldn't play with them. One thing to remember is that Patti's sons are both very small for their ages.

Finally, the 5 year old calls Patti's son a girl. The kid snaps. He starts screaming "I am not a girl, I am not a girl. I have a dirtbike, girls don't have dirtbikes!" He's screaming this over and over. All the while, the 5 year old is saying "girly girl, girly girl" over and over. Finally Patti came out and called her son and his friend to come home.

That left me hysterically laughing while cooking dinner on the grill.
